The Kaneshie District Court One has sentenced a 23-year-old cashier to three months' imprisonment with hard labour for stealing GHC 8,575.00 from his employer to gamble.
Andy Tetteh, the convict, who lost the money through betting, admitted to the offence when he was arraigned. He was convicted on his own plea and sentenced accordingly.
Police Chief Inspector Achana Apewah told the Court that the complainant, Teye Simon Kwabla, is the Manager at Bingo Bets, located in Ecomog, Adabraka.
He said Tetteh, the convict, was employed as a cashier by the company and resided at Ecomog.
On April 30, 2025, Tetteh received cash amounting to GHC 8,575.00 from customers who came to place bets at the company but failed to render an account to the Manager.
The complainant subsequently reported the matter to the Police, leading to Tetteh’s arrest.
Investigations revealed that he had used the money to place bets but lost the entire amount.
Chief Inspector Apewah stated that, upon completion of the investigation, Tetteh was charged with the offence and brought before the Court.
