Court jails chop bar attendant 10 years for defilement

Takoradi, Nov. 17, GNA- A Takoradi Circuit Court on Friday sentenced Raynolds Amissah, a 25-year old chop bar attendant, to 10 years imprisonment for defiling a 15-year girl. The accused pleaded guilty. The case of the prosecution was that at about 1000 hours on October 23 this year, the accused lured the victim who was on an errand for the mother into his room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. He said the accused kept the victim in his room for almost a week after the act.

The prosecution said the father of the victim had a tip-off that the daughter had been locked up in the room of the accused and sent his eldest son to the house to verify. He said the son met only the sister at the house and took her home. The prosecution said after the victim had narrated her ordeal, the father went to the house of the accused, arrested and handed him over to the Police. 17 Nov. 07
