Court jails man 24 years for drugging, defiling JSS girl

Tarkwa (W/R), March, 30 -GNA- A labourer, Kwabena Ofosu was on Thursday jailed 24 years by a Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Ajet Nasam for defiling a 15-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS) girl Ofosu, alias Oboe Srsu was sentenced on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah of Tarkwa Police said the complainant in the case was a Police Inspector, Joseph Kwadjo Kumi stationed at Sefwi Bonsu Nkwanta, while the accused Ofosu, also known as Apprentice was a Cocoa Depot Labourer at Bonsu Nkwanta and the victim was a 15 years old JSS one student of Anweafutu Junction near Bonsu Nkwanta.

He said on March 6 2006 after the closing of Ghana's 49th Independence Anniversary Parade, the accused met the victim and her friend, also in JSS two in their school dresses at Bonsu Nkwanta and invited them to a nearby drinking bar at about 1730 hours. The accused bought gin for them and later sent them home and had sex with the victim when they were intoxicated. According to Chief Inspector Asamoah the Police got wind of it and the accused was arrested.

When the accused was escorted to his room, the two girls were met lying in the room, dressed in their school dresses and totally drunk. They were taken to the station together with the accused and a medical report form issued to both to attend hospital at Sefwi Wiawso government hospital for treatment.
