Begoro, May 12, GNA - A 56-year-old electrical mechanic, Kofi Somuah, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment in hard labour by the Begoro District Magistrate court for defiling two girls of five years each.

He was sentenced on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector William Kwasi Nkrumah told the court, presided over by Mr Robert Djan that on January 9, this year, the accused person went to the house of the victims to buy akpeteshie, a local gin and met the two girls, playing on the veranda with their elder brother.

Chief Inspector Nkrumah said, the accused person sent the boy to buy some local gin from a nearby house for him and after drinking it sent him again to a distant place to buy pork for him.

He said the accused person then took the two girls on his laps and inset his fingers in their virgina in turns.

Chief Inspector Nkrumah said in course of the act, one of the victims began to scream aloud and a passer-by came to their rescue. He said the accused person took to his heels and was apprehended and escorted to the police station.

Chief Inspector Nkrumah said the victims were treated of virginal abrasion at the Begoro hospital and discharged.
