An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced two persons to ten years each imprisonment for conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.
The two Kwesi John a Mechanic and Ato Kwamena, a Porter were sentenced on their own plea.
Chief Inspector K. Adu told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that the complainant in the case is a student residing with her parents at Bubiashie in Accra.
He said on April 29 at about 10.40am, John, who was riding a motorbike at Kwame Nkrumah Circle was approached by Ato to accompany him with his motorbike to enable them snatch handbags from people to enrich themselves.
Mr Adu said Ato agreed with John’s since he had no money on him at the time. “John rode the motor bike while Ato did the snatching”.
He said the convicts attacked and forcibly snatched the complainant’s hand bag containing Nokia Lumia 800 phone at Olla Balm around Bubiashie on her way to church.
The Prosecution said the complainant screamed for help but to no avail as they managed to escape.
Chief Inspector Adu said the convicts sped off and proceeded to Awudome Estate close to TV Africa, where they succeeded in snatching another bag from an unidentified female victim and sped off.
He said luck, eluded them when a witness, who was also riding a motorbike on his way to Kwame Nkrumah Circle heard shout of thieves, thieves by a young man running after the them at distance.
The witness chased them with his motor bike in the process knocked them down with his motorbike, raised an alarm and they were arrested.
Items retrieved from the convicts were the motor bike and two black ladies hand bags.
