A man arrested over alleged robbery attack on a married couple at Aburaso in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District, has been ordered by a Kumasi Circuit Court to be held in prison custody.

Richard Kwadwo Konadu together with one other person on the run, reportedly attacked the victims whilst on their way to an all-night church service, seized and fled with their three mobile phones and cash of GH?5,000.00.

He profusely denied charges of conspiracy to rob and robbery and would make his next appearance on October 17.

Police Chief Superintendent Emmanuel A. Akunnor told the court, presided over by Mrs. Lydia Osei Marfo, that the incident happened on September 16, at about 2230 hours.

The victims, Mr. Isaac Owusu and Mrs. Elizabeth Owusu, were about 50 metres away from the worship centre when the accused and his fugitive colleague, ordered them not to move, which they obliged, out of fear for their lives.

They hit the man in the forehead with a metal and as he bled profusely, they forcibly removed his three mobile phones, seized a handbag of the woman, containing cash of GH?5,000.00, and escaped.

The couple shouted for help, attracting people in the neighborhood, who assisted to carry the injured husband to the Aburaso hospital for treatment.

The prosecution said a formal report was later made to the Suntreso police and investigations led to the arrest of Konadu.

Konadu has pleaded alibi and they are working to establish a proof of his innocence or otherwise, Police Chief Supt Akunnor, added.
