Court orders three held over robbery

Three alleged violent criminals, who shot and badly hurt one person during a robbery operation at Bomso, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, have been ordered by a Kumasi Circuit Court to be held in prison custody.

Mohammed Baba, Prince Opoku and Abdulai Abubakar, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.

They pleaded not guilty to the offence and would make their next appearance on Friday, September 11.

Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah told the court, presided over by Mrs. Afua Adu-Amankwah, that the trio armed with pistols, raided the house of an Egyptian businessman and robbed him of his cash of GH¢ 1,140 and a Samsung mobile phone valued at GH¢ 800.00

They also shot the victim, Abdul Majeed, in the stomach resulting in severe injuries and he was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for medical attention.

The Prosecution said the incident happened on August 18, at about 2100 hours.

The accused were arrested at the Asokore-Mampong Affordable Housing based upon intelligence.
