Court refuses bail to suspects in Tsito twins' murder case

Ho, June 10, GNA-A Ho Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel Siammeh on Tuesday refused bail to Alex Dzakuma and Kwaku Sunu, two of the suspects in the murder of twin brothers at Tsito. Dzakuma and Sunu, the latest of 11 suspects to be arrested in connection with the case were the owner and caretaker respectively of the house where Police retrieved the skeletons of the victims from a cesspit tank. The prosecution pleaded with the court to remand the suspects in custody to give the Police enough time to conduct investigations. Mr Ernest Gaewu, counsel for Dzakuma had prayed the court to ignore prosecution's excuse saying the court heard the same excuse at the last adjourned date. He said the situation where Police dumped suspects in custody under the pretext of conducting investigation must not be encouraged. Mr Gaewu argued that his client was "just a victim of circumstances" and that there was nothing to incriminate him in the case.

Mr Godwin Kpoble, counsel for Sunu said that there was no connection between the two suspects and the suspected murderers and urged the court to grant them bail and that they could in no way influence Police investigation. " The skeletons of the twins had already been sent to Police Headquarters and I wonder how these people could influence police investigations", he stated.

Mr. Kpoble said it had been established that the suspected murderers were in court with others on the run and advised the court to start trying those in court and "stop holding innocent people in custody".

The Judge however, remanded the two in custody to enable Police do thorough investigations into the case. The two were charged with aiding and abetting nine other suspects to commit crime to wit murder. Other suspects in Prison custody include Adeku John Annang, Sebrenu Alfred, Kavi Kafui Kwadzo and Dogbey Worlanyo. The rest are Adeku Esinam, Kpeteme Kpasra and Mama Afagbedzi. On the run are Daniel Prebi, (prime suspect) and Sekil Kpasra. Joseph and Benjamin Bani, the twins, nine years of age were last seen on January 2, this year when John Adeku, was alleged to have invited them into the house of Daniel Prebi at the outskirts of Tsito.
