Court remands Fetish priest for defilement

Tarkwa, June 19, GNA - A fetish priest, Nana Tetteh, 29, has been remanded in to prison custody by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for defiling a 15= - year- old girl.

He pleaded guilty and would reappear before the court on June 27. Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Florence Tawiah told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant George Johnfia= h is a mechanic working with Golden Star Bogoso/ Prestea Limited. Inspector Tawiah said, the complainant lived in Prestea with the victi= m who is a class five pupil.

She said at about 1730 hours the accused person met the victim at Prestea Town Centre and lured her to his hotel room and violated her. The Prosecutor said the accused gave the victim cash of GH¢25 and sa= w her off to her parents at Gyampre village near Prestea. Inspector Tawiah said the complainant was looking for the where about of the victim when witnesses in the case told him that, they spotted the accused person sending the victim to the hotel. Chief Inspector Tawiah said on May 26, the complainant sought the assistance of two soldiers and went to the hotel to arrest the accused person who was handed over to the police. She said the accused person in his initial caution statement denied th= e offence.

The Prosecutor said the victim narrated her ordeal and said she took a pair of shorts of the accused as evidence. She said the victim was examined at Prestea Government Hospital while the accused confessed the offence, when he was rearrested.
