Court remands four persons for issuing threats

Ejisu (Ash), Aug 6, GNA- The Ejisu Magistrate's court has remanded four persons from Donyina near Ejisu for threatening the headmistress and staff of the Donyina Catholic Junior Secondary School (JSS).

Samuel Okofo, 19, an electrician, Kwame Anthony, 18, a shoemaker, Kwadwo Badu, 19, unemployed and Kwadwo Appiah, 20, apprentice shoemaker, pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on August 15.

Police Chief Inspector Ofori Takyi told the court that Okofo is the boyfriend of Emelia Antwi, a JSS Two pupil of the Donyina Catholic JSS.

He said on July 14, three girls of the school including Emelia were punished for absenting themselves from school. After the punishment the school authorities invited their parents and reported their conducts to them.

He said Opanin Samuel Antwi, Emelia's father, thanked the headmistress and staff of the school for bringing the behaviour of the girls to their attention and in their presence disciplined his daughter. Chief Inspector Takyi said Yaa Nsiah, a pupil of the school who knew about the affair between Emelia and Okofo, later informed Okofo that the Rev Sister Cecilia Adu Poku, the headmistress of the school, had reported Emelia to her father who disciplined her.

Okofo organised the other accused persons and went to Opanin Antwi's house to warn him but he was not in the house. They marched to the school and attacked the headmistress and staff, the prosecution said.
