An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Kofi Agyei a head porter in police custody for alleged robbery.
The accused person pleaded not guilty and would reappear on July 29.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector K Adu told the court presided over by Justice Francis Obiri that the complainant is a Chinese Expatriate and Director of HH Tercel Limited.
He said the company deals in tricycles and generators and was located at Lapaz, a suburb of Accra.
He said on June 17, the complainant and his Chinese interpreter went to the GT Bank around Ridge together with their driver to withdraw money.
The prosecution said on reaching North industrial area at about 1230 hours, they stopped at a Chinese restaurant opposite Melcom Plus and suddenly two men on motorbike started shooting at the car.
Chief Inspector Adu said in the process the complainant was seriously injured and the accused person together with his accomplice took the polythene bag containing GH?220,000 from the car.
He said the complainant was rushed to the police hospital, where he was treated and discharged.
He said a report was made to the police and during investigations, police received intelligence that accused person had travelled to his hometown.
He said information also indicated that the accused person bought a new motorbike and other items with the money.
“A friend he confided in about the robbery expedition leaked the information to the police and the accused person was arrested on July 3.
Other items he bought with the money included Air condition, home theatre, plasma TV, Gas cylinder, iron, fridge and stabilizer were all retrieved from his room.
He said accused person initially told the police he raised money to buy the items but later changed his claim.
