An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Stanley Asamoah, a sales agent in police custody for allegedly stealing various sums of money belonging to his employer.

The accused person, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear on July 28.

Chief Inspector K. Adu, prosecuting, told the Court that the complainant in the case is the Head of the Recovery and Finance Unit at Sarago Company Limited, a company that deals in general commodities.

He said the accused person was a former distributor of the company.

He said in February 2014, the accused person took delivery of 600 bags of rice valued at GH?35,000.00 to be supplied to one Ante Mansah at Kaneshie.

The Prosecution said the accused person collected GH?35,000.00 from one Ante Mansah on behalf of the company, but failed to render account for it.

He said the accused person further took delivery of 200 bags of rice valued at GH? 30, 000.00 to be supplied to one Pat Paulina, which he collected the money but again failed to render account.

The Chief Inspector said Paulina made an initial payment of GH? 4,500.00 to the accused person, which he paid to the company, later.

He said Paulina again paid the balance of GH? 25,500.00 to the accused person, but he failed to deliver the money to the company and went into hiding.

“The complainant made all efforts to get the accused person to pay back the money but to no avail,” he added.

The Prosecution said the complainant later contacted Paulina and Mansah, who disclosed that they had made payments to the accused person.

On July 9, 2014, the accused person was tracked and arrested at the H and J Company at Achimota.
