An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Emmanuel Akoliko, Labourer and Benjamin Koomson, Trader, in police custody for the supply and use of narcotic drug without lawful authority.
Emmanuel pleaded not guilty to supply of narcotic drug, while Benjamin also pleaded not guilty to use of the substance. They are to reappear on December 10.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector K. Adu told the Court presided over by Agboagye Tandoh that during the dawn of November 20, the Kaneshie District Police Command embarked on an operation at Avenor Kofikrom, Kaneshie and its environs noted for narcotic peddling.
He said in the course of the operation, the two accused persons were arrested with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The Prosecution said at the Dansoman Lorry station at Kaneshie, Emmanuel was arrested at about 5:30am with 88 wrappers of the substance and cash GH? 4.00.
“Upon his arrest he told police, he was in the area to sell the substance to a customer,” he added.
At Avenor, Benjamin was also arrested at about 6:30am with a small quantity of the substance unwrapped in a polythene bag and during interrogations, he told the police that he had bought the substance for personal use.
Efforts are being made to forward the substance for forensic examination at the Police Laboratory.
