A Kumasi Circuit Court, presided over by Mr William Boampong, has ordered a man found guilty of robbery to be held in prison for 60 years.

Bright Obeng alias “Kwesi Adoko” broke into the victim’s home, inflicted deep knife wounds on her until she dropped unconscious and made off with her cash of GH¢ 900.00.

He was convicted after he pleaded guilty to the crime.

Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the court that the incidence happened on July 23 at about 2130 hours.

Ophelia Asare, the victim, and the convict lived in the same house at Manhyia, Kumasi and, had gone to her bedroom from the kitchen to pick something only to see the convict rummaging up the place.

Before the lady could react, he attacked her with a knife, stabbing her indiscriminately in the face and other parts of the body until she dropped to the ground and fled with the cash in her purse.

The prosecution said her other co-tenants saw her lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she was kept on admission for some days before being discharged.

Obeng was spotted three days after the crime and was arrested.
