Abena Bour, wife of Eric Addae, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asutifi South Constituency, reportedly organised thugs in Pick-ups and went round registration centres in the constituency threatening to shoot opposition party members, especially known New Patriotic Party (NPP) members who were also going about their normal duties of ensuring the smoothness of the registration process.

As a result, the MP for the Asutifi South Constituency, Benhazin Joseph Daha, and three others were beaten mercilessly last Saturday at a registration centre at Ntontroso.

The MP, who sustained serious injuries at the neck, was issued with police medical form for treatment at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Hospital, Sunyani. One of the victims, Kwaku Acheampong, whose hand was said to have been fractured, was referred to the St John of God Hospital at Duayaw Nkwanta where he is currently on admission and receiving physiotherapy treatment.

Narrating the incident on phone to DAILY GUIDE, Mr Joseph Daha said he was going round the limited registration centres to monitor what was happening. Upon reaching the Ntontroso Electoral Area at the Methodist JHS Registration Centre, the whole place was quiet without people doing the registering and so he engaged one of the NPP agents in a conversation when all of a sudden, the wife of Eric Addae, Abena Bour, and some ‘machomen’ came in Mahindra Pick-ups and ordered that he (the MP) and two of his men should be beaten.

According to the MP, one of the men who is believed to be the brother of the Local Government Minister, Alhaji Collins Dauda, named only as Naaba, identified him (MP) and asked the rest to beat him up the more.

.

He said he and the others were beaten until he fell down and sustained injuries at the neck whilst the others also sustained various degrees of injury.

According to him, the ‘machomen,’ numbering about 18, after manhandling him, jumped onto the Pick-ups and bolted.

The case is under investigation.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed the assault on the MP and three others.
