Decomposed body of girl found at Bamiri

Bamiri (B/A) Jan. 12,GNA - The decomposed body of an eight-year-old girl with parts of the body chopped off has been found at the local cemeter= y of Bamiri, near Techiman in Brong-Ahafo. The deceased, who is yet to be identified, had her left leg and the genitals removed.

The body has since been buried by a team of the Environmental Health Division and the police. Mr. Andrews Akakpo, senior environmental health officer of Techiman Municipal Assembly, told Ghana News Agency that at about 2000 hours on January 2 this year, Nana Obiri Yeboah Kokroko II, chief of Bamiri, who is Tutuhene of Techiman Traditional Area, reported the discovery of the body t= o the police and the environmental health division.

He said the body was discovered after dogs were seen fighting over something at the cemetery. Radio announcements were made on the local FM stations about the dead body but nobody came forward to claim it so it was consequently buried afte= r a post mortem examination at the spot, the environmental health officer added. Mr Akakpo said the police suspected foul-play and were investigating. Chief Inspector Tommy Thompson, in-charge of Techiman Police Station, confirmed the incident and advised parents and school authorities to be war= y of drivers they engaged to pick their children to and from school. He appealed to the general public to help the police solve the murder of the girl.
