The chief and people of Dome, in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region, have appealed to the Police Administration to as a matter of urgency provide them a police station to curb crime in the area.
The appeal comes in the wake of rampant stealing of cocoa beans and domestic animals, leaving many of their owners poor.
Nana Appiah Bediako, Krontihene of Dome, who made the appeal, said the town was a fast growing community with institutions that must be protected.
“Establishing a police station at Dome would be the most effective way to deal with the criminals,” he remarked.
He said an indigene had volunteered to give out his building to house the station, as well as personnel and their families who would be posted there.
“The creation of the police station would help ensure prompt response to Dome and adjoining communities’ criminal problems,” he said.
Nana Appiah Bediako said the opening of a police post or creating a ‘tent-city –station’, would help provide security to passengers, farmers, the community bank and residents living around the area.
