Cape Coast, Oct.12, GNA - A 28-year-old driver, Stephen Amoah was on Tuesday granted bail in the sum of GHc10,000.00 with two sureties by a Cape Coast Circuit Court for reckless driving, leading to the deformity of a cyclist. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of reckless driving and causing harm and the case has been adjourned to Wednesday, October 19, 2011. The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Oduro Kwarteng-Addae, told the court presided over by Mrs Florence Kai Otu that on April 20 this year, Amoah was driving an Isuzu tipper truck with registration number GR1893 C from Odumase to Assin Amoanin. He said in an attempt to overtake a cyclist on the road, Amoah knocked the cyclist down. The cyclist who got trapped under the truck was released by passersby who sent him to the ST. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu for treatment. DSP Kwarteng-Oduro said the victim was later transferred to the Okomfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi where his right hand was amputated.
