Awudu Yaya, a 20-year old driver at Abura, a suburb of Cape Coast on Tuesday appeared before a Circuit Court for stealing two 21-plate car batteries worth GH¢800.00 belonging to one Mr. Felix Odei, also a driver.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing and was remanded into police custody until Tuesday, October 16.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Charles Effah told the court presided over by Mrs Florence Kai Otu that on Tuesday, September 25, Mr. Odei parked his vehicle at Abura Roman Hill for two days.

He said when he came to start the truck, he noticed that someone had stolen the batteries compelling him to conduct investigations leading to the arrest of Yahaya.

The Prosecutor said when Mr. Odei apprehended Yahaya, he admitted stealing the batteries with the help of one Emmanuel and Joe but when he was arrested and taken to the Central Regional Police Headquarters, he denied the theft and alleged that he knew the people who stole the batteries.

He was however unable to tell the police who they were.
