Stephen Arthur, a 25-year old driver was on Thursday fined GH¢1200 by a Cape Coast Magistrates’ court for careless and inconsiderate driving.
Stephen, who pleaded not guilty, would go to prison for six months in default.
Narrating the facts of the case to the court presided over by Ms. Mercy Kotei, Chief Inspector Samuel Addo said, on July 24 last year, at about 2000 hours, Stephen was then driving a Kia Saloon car with registration number GE5393-Y from Mankessim towards Cape Coast.
He said the convict on reaching the Pedu traffic light section of the road, tried to over-take a Zoomlion refuse truck after the traffic light had shown green and in the process collided head-on with a Kia truck with registration number GN 9265 11 driven by one Mr. Samuel Cole.
Chief Inspector Addo said Mr. Cole sustained some injuries and was rushed to the Central regional hospital but was later referred to the Police hospital in Accra where he was treated and discharged.
