Driver found with pistol granted bail

Tema, Jan. 21, GNA - A driver who was found with a locally manufactured pistol hidden in his dress at Ashaiman "trotro" station has been granted 50 million cedis bail by the Tema Circuit Court 'A'. David Kwame pleaded not guilty on a charge of possessing locally manufactured pistol without authority and will reappear on January 27. Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Robert Aganiba told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on July 27, last year, Ashaiman police had a tip- off that the accused was armed with a pistol and was strolling in town around Ashaiman trotro station near the traffic lights.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Robert Aganiba told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on July 27, last year, Ashaiman police had a tip- off that the accused was armed with a pistol and was strolling in town around Ashaiman trotro station near the traffic lights. He said based on this information, a team of detectives visited the area and arrested the accused. During a search on him, a locally manufactured pistol was found hidden in between his waist belt and his pair of shorts and the police took possession of the pistol. DSP Aganiba said in his caution statement, the accused admitted the offence and was therefore charged.
