Twifo Praso (C/R) June 16, GNA - Bismark Baidoo, a 21 year- old driver's mate, was on Wednesday fined 1.2 million cedis by a district magistrate's court at Twifo-Praso for stealing five bags of cocoa belonging to the 'Kuapa Kokoo' Buying Company at Twifo-Praso. In the default Baidoo, who pleaded guilty, will go to jail for six months.
Prosecuting, Chief inspector George Okine told the court that on June 4, Mr Kwame Agyei Yeboah, the area manager of the company, drove the company's truck with Baidoo on board to the Twifo Mampoma Society to convey 67 bags of dry cocoa beans to Twifo- Praso. He said the following day it was detected that five of the bags of cocoa were missing.
Chief Inspector Okine said Baidoo was arrested and during interrogation he admitted stealing the cocoa and led the police to retrieve three bags. The court ordered Baidoo to pay a restitution of 1.687,500 cedis being the cost of the three bags of cocoa to the company.
