Accra, Sept. 13, GNA - A driver's mate who allegedly clubbed his colleague to death during a fight on Monday appeared at the Kaneshie District Magistrate's Court charged with murder. Samuel Nartey had earlier been charged with causing harm while Kwadwo Somuah, the victim was on admission at the Police Hospital. Somuah, however, died a few days after the incident. When the case was called, Prosecuting Chief Inspector Nora Odoi withdrew the charge of causing harm against Samuel Nartey saying the victim, Kwadwo Somuah, who was on admission, passed away on September 5. The Prosecution said a report on the deceased indicated that he died of head injury.

Nartey, whose plea had not been taken, was remanded into prison custody to reappear on September 19. The case of the Prosecution was that Twum Barimah, a driver and his wife; Esther Amaning had a marital problem over a room at North Kaneshie.

According to the Prosecution, Twum Barimah had told his wife to quit the room to enable him to give it to his brothers. Esther ignored him and locked the door. Twum Barimah, therefore, broke into the room to make way for his brothers. This did not go down well with Esther, who brought four persons to attack her husband.

Twum Barimah also brought in some persons from the Neoplan Station including the deceased, who clashed with Esther's group. The Prosecution said during the fight, Nartey clubbed the deceased and he fell.

The Police, who saw Nartey club the deceased, arrested him while Somuah was rushed to the Police Hospital.
