Tema, Sept. 08, GNA -- A driver who displayed a sense of dishonesty by stealing 11 million cedis out of a total amount of 70 million cedis, has been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court 'B'. Kwaku Agyepong, pleaded not guilty to stealing and will re-appear on September 14, 2004.
Police Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that in April this year, the complainant left a Corolla car with his sister to be sold for 70 million cedis.
Chief Inspector Nutakor said the complainant directed that the money be deposited in his accounts at Eco Bank in Tema CI Nutakor said the accused person who was to deposit the money at the Eco Bank, deposited 59 million cedis out of the total amount. The prosecution said when the accounts were later checked, it was detected that it was short of 11 million cedis. CI Nutakor said when the accused person was questioned about the rest of the amount; he could not give any tangible reason for the shortfall.
The matter was, therefore, reported to the police and the accused person was arrested.
