Nwakeeze Chukwuemeka, 31, a Nigerian, listed as one of the most wanted narcotic drug dealers in Ghana has been arrested by personnel of the Narcotics Control Board. Chukwuemeka, said to be among those who import cocaine into the country from Nigeria, was picked up at a hotel at Osu, Accra, on Tuesday, following the arrest of Patrick Etumnu, 45, alias "Lion" one of his alleged accomplices, with 3.5 kilogrammes of cocaine.

Briefing the Times in Accra yesterday, the acting Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Board, Mark Ewuntomah, said Chukwuemeka had long been on the wanted list of the Narcotics Control Board who where monitoring his movement. He said the majority of Nigerians arrested in the country in connection with narcotics related offences mentioned

Chukwuemeka as the one who supplied them the drugs to be delivered to somebody else for a fee. He said that after Etumnu was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday, while going through departure formalities for a flight to the United Kingdom, with a parcel suspected to be containing narcotic substances, he named Chukwuemeka as the one who gave him the parcel.

Mr. Ewuntomah said Etumnu later disclosed to personnel of the Narcotics Board where Chukwuemeka was hiding and subsequently led them to arrest him. Chukwuemeka, according to Mr Ewuntomah, admitted the offence during interrogations and confessed that he was among those who import cocaine, into the country for distribution. He said Chukwuemeka arrived in the country from Nigeria on January 26 to transact the drug business with Etumnu who told interrogators that the trip was his second for Chukwuemeka for a fee.

Mr. Ewuntomah stated that the two suspects are in police custody while the substances have been forwarded to the Ghana Standards Board for examination. He expressed gratitude to the UK Customs, that is assisting the Board in its fight against the drug business.
