Drug dealer remanded for stealing

Half-Assini Magistrate’s Court in Western Region has remanded an Accra-based drug supplier, Harrison Ackah alias Asiedu to reappear on, January 20, for stealing.

The convict 23, pleaded guilty on all the three counts of conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry and stealing.

The court presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu, however suspended his plea on conspiracy.

His alleged accomplice; Festus Nketiah alias Kojo, pleaded not guilty for conspiracy to commit crime, and was also remanded into police custody to reappear on January 20.

Two other accomplices whose names were given as Moses and Assuah are however at large.

Police Corporal Richard Amoah, said the complainant, Madam Agatha Cudjoe, is a businesswoman and President of Saint Martin De-Tours Roman Catholic Church at Mpataba.

He said about 1730 hours on December 12 last year the complainant and witnesses in the case all members of the Church went to choir practice and detected that the main gate and back door to the church building which were locked the previous day were at ajar.

The Prosecutor said upon entry they detected the theft of a Yamaha Keyboard, Titanic Mixer Machine and Base Guitar, and reported the incident to Mpataba Police.

He said on January 12, Ackah was seen offering JBN Mixer Machine for sale at Odorkor, which raised the suspicion of an informant who alerted Police who arrested him.

According to the Prosecutor, during interrogation Ackah confessed stealing the item.

He said he sent the items to Takoradi and sold the Base guitar for GHC200.00, Yamaha Keyboard at GHC400.00 and gave the Mixer to Assuah for safe keeping.

Corporal Amoah disclosed that on January 15, one Samuel Boadi of Mpataba brought the Mixer and the Keyboard to Mpataba Police that they were from his Uncle Assuah, who is at large.

He said the convict told Police that his was given the key to the Church by Nketiah who asked him to steal the items for sale.
