The Eastern Regional Police Command has advised hunters in the region to desist from indiscriminate shooting to avoid killing and harming of innocent people.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, the Regional Police Public Affairs Officer and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua on Monday.
The statement said two people had been killed in the past two weeks in such circumstances and that upon preliminary investigations in both instances, it was revealed that, the incident occurred due to poor visibility as a result of the rains.
It advised individual and group hunters to exercise greatest care and diligence in their operations to avoid shooting people, who are also embarking on hunting or other activities at their respective areas.
The statement also impressed upon the hunters to ensure that, they licensed all their firearms they use for hunting in accordance with the Wildlife Conservation Regulations of 1983 as well as the Arms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 1962.
