Obuasi, Oct 16, GNA - Eight persons including four women were on Thursday arraigned before the Obuasi Circuit Court charged with conspiracy to commit crime and the murder of a nine-year-old girl at Pomposo near Obuasi.
They include Yaw Frimpong, a resident of Kwabenakrom near Obuasi and believed to be practising occultism under the cover of a traditional medicine.
The rest are Kwaku Donkor, farmer, Yaw Ibrahim, farmer, Amos Afoakwa, keyboardist, Adwoa Abrafi, hairdresser, Adwoa Ntriwaah, Felicia Darkwa, farmer and Victoria Donkor, a student. The court did not take their pleas and remanded them to re-appear on November 13.
Scores of people thronged the court premises and the police had a hectic time trying to control them.
Nineteen suspects were initially arrested in connection with the murder of Adwoa Dwantoah that occurred on October 6 but police said preliminary investigations had led to granting bail to 11 of them. The deceased was said to have left home in the morning of Friday October 6 and never returned. Her body was found lying near a footpath at the outskirts of Pomposo two days later. The police said her under pant was lying beside her with blood oozing from her private parts.
