The Ghana Police Service are on a hunt for a group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in Obuasi for allegedly threatening to cause violence in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

In a statement published on Friday, November 15, 2024, the police service said the actions of the group, identified as NDC Youth of Obuasi, contained in a viral video, breached Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

“The Ghana Police Service is on the lookout for a group of individuals calling themselves NDC Youth of Obuasi, who are seen in a viral video threatening violence during the upcoming 2024 General Elections.

“We wish to state that the behaviour of the group constitutes the offence of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace contrary to Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29),” the statement read.

The statement emphasised that the police operation is currently underway to “have them arrested and face justice.”
