Electrician who posed as soldier arrested for defrauding

A 24 year old Electrician who resides at Nungua in the Greater Accra region is in the grips of the eastern regional police command for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

Japhet Biney was arrested by soldiers of the first infantry detached base in Koforidua after he defrauded Emelia Amoah,a 34 year old manageress of the Linda restaurant to the tune of GHc 25,000.

The suspect, regional police PRO, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh said, posed as a soldier and took GHc 9,000 as part payment of a deal to enlist her into the Ghana armed forces.

According to him ,suspect Japhet Binney on September, 4 ,again collected GHc 16,000 from his victim under the pretext of buying some goods for sale at peace keeping mission in Lebanon and pay her back on his return but failed to do so.

All efforts made by the victim to retrieve the money proved futile and was arrested with three framed photographs fully dressed in military uniform.

He is currently in the custody of the police and assisting in investigations.
