The Odorkor police are currently holding a 30-year-old unemployed woman who allegedly posed as a nurse working at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for defrauding innocent people.

Reports indicate that the suspect, Hannah Arthur, told her victims that she could secure them admission into the Korle-Bu Nursing Training School and collected various amounts of money from them after which she bolted.

This is said to be the second time Hannah Arthur has been arrested for defrauding people using the same modus operandi.

She was arrested a year ago by the Sowutuom police for allegedly defrauding two other victims but was granted bail by the court later; but was rearrested on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Ablekuma Abease, Accra, by the Odorkor police after one of her victims had reported the matter to the police.

According to police reports, the complainant is an interior decorator at Odorkor Addy Junction.

Sometime in September this year, the suspect, known to the complainant as a nurse working at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, collected GH¢3,600 from her under the pretext of securing a nursing training admission for her daughter at Korle-Bu but failed.

All efforts made by the complainant to retrieve her money failed and so a report was lodged to the police, leading to her arrest.

A search conducted in her room at Ablekuma led to the discovery of five sets of nurses’ uniforms.

When police proceeded to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to enquire whether Hannah works there, they discovered that she was not a nurse.

She further admitted in her caution statement that she’s not a nurse.

She is yet to be sent to court for prosecution.
