Fake 'soldier' arrested at Bibiani

Bibiani (W/R), Aug. 14, GNA - A middle-aged man, Kofi Appiah, alias Issa, who allegedly posed as a soldier and terrorised an innocent citizen, has been arrested by the Bibiani police.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Bibiani in the Western Region on Friday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Felix Toya, said on August 9, one ex-Corporal Osei Boampong of AngloGold Ashanti, Bibiani Mine accompanied by Warrant Officer Class II, Javis Yeboah, Detachment Commander of AngloGold Ashanti, Bibiani Mine, came to the police station and reported that the suspect met ex-Corporal Osei Boampong in military cap.

ASP Toya said the suspect questioned ex-Corporal Osei Boampong how he came by the cap and started harassing him. He said at this stage, ex-Corporal Boampong questioned the suspect to mention to him the unit in the Ghana Armed Forces, where he was serving.

ASP Toya said when Appiah mentioned the Apremdo Barracks Station in Sekondi, he was challenged by WOII Yeboah. He said Appiah then started begging for forgiveness but he was handed over to the police. ASP Toya said the suspect would be put before court as soon as investigations were completed.
