Farmer arrested for murder at Kate-Krachi

Ho April 18, GNA- Yaw Kuma Akotia, 40, a farmer, has been arrested by the police at Kete-Krachi in the Volta Region, for allegedly murdering a 36-year-old woman, Yaa Gobi. Mr Joy Afegbedzi, Volta Regional Police Public Relations officer, confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), at Ho on Friday. He said at about 1600 hours on April 15th this year, at Kete-Krachi, Akotia, attacked the mother of the deceased, Ama Kuma Akotia, 70, with a club and chased her out of the house during a quarrel.

Mr Joy Afegbedzi said Madam Akotia, escaped to Yaa Gobi, a neighbour, to take refuge. Mr Afagbedzi said when the suspect got to Madam Akotia's house with a machete and met Yaa Gobi, he slashed her several times resulting in her death the next day at the Kete-Krachi hospital.

The Police officer said the suspect attacked some people who rushed to the aid of the deceased, critically wounding them. Mr Afagbedzi said the suspect was overpowered by some people in the community and handed him over to the police, adding that those who were injured in the attack including the suspect's mother were responding to treatment at the same hospital.
