Farmer fined for stabbing canoe carver

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court has imposed a fine of GH?300.00 on Kudjo Nartey, a farmer, for stabbing a canoe carver on the chest.

Nartey, 36, pleaded guilty for causing unlawful harm and would serve two years in prison if he defaults in the payment of the fine which is besides GH? 500.00 to compensate the victim.

Police Chief Inspector Kingsley Kwaku Antwi told the presiding judge, Mr Yaw Atta Sampong that Mr Isaac Tetteh, the complainant lives at Kwadwo Kumi village near Akim Aduasa in the Birim South District.

On March 8, this year Nartey accused Mr Tetteh of having an affair with the wife and the complainant denied the allegation.

At about 1930 hours on that same day while Mr Tetteh was sleeping in the compound of the house, Nartey attacked the complainant and stabbed him on the chest.

Witnesses on the scene then sent the two to the Akim Swedru Police Station. At the Police Station Mr Tetteh was issued with a medical form to for medical examination whiles Nartey was arrested.
