Farmer forces nephew to swallow human excreta

A 54-year-old farmer, Kwame Achia, who assaulted a 12-year-old boy and forced him to swallow human excreta has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in hard labour and ordered to compensate his victim with Gh¢300.00 for physical abuse.

For assaulting his victim, the accused was fined GH¢240.00 or in default to serve three months in prison in hard labour.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges. . The Presiding Magistrate of Kade Magistrate Cort, Mr. Abdul Majid Iliasu, directed that the compensation should be paid before the fine.

He said should the accused fail to pay the fine, the terms of imprisonment would run consecutively.

Police Chief Inspector Francis Cobbina said the complainant was a farmer residing at Asuom and the victim was the complaint’s late brother’s son. The convict was a farmer and resided at Apenkwa in the same vicinity with the victim.

On May 5 the boy bought one Ghana cedi worth of kenkey which was in a polythene bag, ate and abandoned the refuse outside the house of the accused.

The next day the accused found human excreta in a polythene bag in front of the house and suspected the victim but he denied any knowledge.

The convict held the victim and twisted his right hand and beat him up.

Not satisfied with that, the convict held the boy’s mouth and forced him to swallow some part of the human excreta in the presence of an eye witness.

The witness reported the matter to the police and he was arrested.
