The Bibiani Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Baptist Filson, has ordered a farmer to be held in prison custody for allegedly attempting to kill his wife over her careless in handling his favoured delicacy - pork.
Dada Dambira, 21, reportedly attacked the woman in a fit of anger with cutlass at “Mile-Two”, a farming community near Sefwi-Anyinabirem.
His plea was not taken and would make his next appearance on August 28.
Police Superintendent Victor Abrokwah said the accused and Amina Mohammed have been married for sometime now and they have a three-and-a-half baby boy.
On August 10, Dambira bought some pork for the wife to prepare meals but the meat was inappropriately handled and that made him angry.
The next day Amina asked for housekeeping money and all of a sudden the accused picked a cutlass and attempted to slash her but he hit the baby, who was strapped on her back instead. The woman was also slightly hurt.
Police Supt Abrokwah told the court that the baby and mother were rushed to the Saint John of God Hospital at Sefwi-Asafo for treatment, while the accused was arrested.
