Tepa (Ash), May 28, GNA - Kwaku Sarpong, a 33-year-old farmer at Abesewa near Bechem, was on Thursday sentenced to two years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing 50 wooden boards valued at one million cedis belonging to Kwasi Acquah of Abesewa.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

Police Inspector Francis Asante told the court presided over by Mr S K B Alomatu that the complainant has started a building project at Abesewa and bought some boards for roofing the building which were packed behind the boys' quarters of the same building. He said in January this year, the complainant detected that 50 of the boards were missing so he conducted his own investigations. Inspector Asante said on January 27, the complainant had information that some of the boards were with Sarpong and he reported the case to the Abesewa Unit Committee.

He said the accused was arrested and four of the boards were retrieved. He then pleaded for sometime to pay for the cost of the boards but failed to do so and was therefore handed over to the police at Pokukrom.
