Mankranso (Ash), Aug. 18, GNA - A 57-year-old farmer who stole a bunch of plantain valued at 80,000 cedis from a neighbour's farm at Abesewa in the Ahafo-Ano South District of Ashanti, was on Tuesday remanded by a magistrate's court at Mankranso. Kwaku Poku pleaded guilty and will re-appear on August 23. Police Inspector Edwin Dei-Offei told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that Madam Adwoa Asra, the complainant detected over a three-month period that someone had been stealing plantain from her farm.

She therefore engaged two people to watch the farm, the prosecution said. Inspector Dei-Offei said at about 1900 hours on August 9, this year, the people watching the farm saw Poku stealing the plantain and so approached him and after questioning him reported him to the complainant.

He said the accused pleaded for forgiveness but the complainant refused since the theft had gone on for sometime and handed him over to the police at Pokukrom who after interrogation, charged him with the offence.
