A 45-year old farmer, who allegedly inflicted cutlass wounds on another farmer over a land boundary dispute, has been remanded into Prison custody, by the Nsuta Circuit Court at Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District of Ashanti.
Karim Abdul Ramah, the accused is said to have used the cutlass to inflict a wound on the left shoulder of Fatai Mohammed, the complainant when arguments over the boundaries of their farmlands resulted in a scuffle.
He pleaded guilty to using an offensive weapon and causing harm and the Court presided over by Mr. Abdul Yussif Assibey, convicted him on his own plea and ordered him to come back to court on Thursday, April 04, 2019, for sentencing.
Prosecuting, DSP Ransford Nsiah, told the Court that both the complainant and the accused are farmers at Kofiase in the Mampong Municipality, farming on a parcel of land with a common boundary.
He said on Sunday, March 3, 2019, both of them met on their farms and a misunderstanding ensued over the boundary of the land on which they are farming.
The Prosecution said this degenerated into a fight during which the complainant is said to have bitten the finger of accused.
He said the accused then took a cùtlass and allegedly, hacked the left shoulder of the complainant.
The complainant reported the case to the Kofiase police and after investigations, the police arrested the suspect, charged him with the offence and brought him before the Court.
The court before deferring the sentence said that even though the complainant bit a finger of the accused, his action was out of proportion to what the complainant did to him.
