Farmer steals sheep

Kwaku Boateng, a 35-year-old farmer, was on Tuesday fined GH¢ 60.00 by the Kade District Magistrate’s Court for stealing a sheep.

Boateng who pleaded guilty would in default serve 12 months imprisonment in hard labour.

Police Sergeant, Ambrose Akpabli, prosecuting said Boateng stole the sheep from a house of a neighbour, Peter Addo, at Kwae Afunyah, in the Kwaebibirem District on July 2.

The prosecutor explained that at about 0400 hours on that day, Boateng went to the neighbour’s house and found a number of sheep lying in the open compound and stole one of them.

He then sent it to Kwae and sold it at GH¢80.00 to a person who later reported him to the police.

Sensing danger, Boateng took to his heels but was chased and arrested and taken to the Kwae Estate Police Station.

The complainant who noticed that his sheep had been stolen rushed to the police station to report, where the convict had been arrested.

Boateng pleaded with the court to deal leniently with him since he would not steal again, saying “I will leave the sheep at Kwae Afunyah in peace”.
