Five persons have been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing huge quantities of Sano Sprays and detergents, valued at GH¢ 143,742.00, from a warehouse in Accra.
They are Zakari Aminu, Patrick Gyasi, Massawudu Haruna, Abdul Salam Amadu, and Bashiru Yakubu aka, “DD”.
Yakubu a businessman, Haruna and Amadu were charged with conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry and stealing.
The two other accomplices; Aminu, a trader and Andrew Osei, a businessman, are being held for dishonestly receiving.
They have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Court presided over by Ms Ellen Vivian Amoah has admitted them to bail in the sum of GH¢ 40,000.00 with four sureties each one to be justified.
They are to reappear on July 30.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Charles A. Chester said Mrs Mercy Coffie, a businesswoman, was the complainant and the sole importer of Sano Sprays, detergents, and its related products from Israel.
Chief Inspector Chester said the accused persons resided at Zongo Lane, Korle -Gonor, and Timber Market, all suburbs of Accra.
The prosecution said the when the complainant’s husband conducted an audit at their warehouse in Accra, he discovered that sprays, detergents, and other accessories valued at GH¢ 143,742.00 had been stolen.
Therefore, on May 11, the complainant reported the matter to the Police, who arrested Aminu and Gyasi with some of the products.
During interrogation, Aminu mentioned Haruna as his supplier. Haruna also mentioned Amadu and Yakubu as his supplier.
The prosecution said Yakubu also indicated that it was one Issah and Ido who supplied him with the goods but failed to lead the Police to arrest them.
