The James Town District Police Command have arrested five suspected robbers, including a worker at Chinese wholesale shop, for allegedly robbing a Chinese woman of an unspecified amount of money from a shop at Adedenkpo, Accra.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Afia Tenge, the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) told the Ghana News Agency that Alhassan Yusif, Charles Ekpi, Kwasi Emmanuel Ahiangbe alias Abongo and Richard Yeboah forcibly entered the shop where they attacked the Chinese woman.
She said Paul Nartey, an accomplice and informant of the gang was also arrested.
The Public Relations Officer said the gang succeeded in taking her backpack containing the unspecified amount of money being proceeds of goods sold, her Chinese passport, sales book, among others and bolted.
DSP Tenge said with the assistance of eye witnesses; Yusif and Ekpi were arrested in the neighborhood but two other accomplices escaped with the booty.
She said upon a tip-off, Police arrested Ahiangbe and Yeboah at their hide-out in Kasoa in the Central Region.
The PRO said the complainant’s backpack containing GH11,580.00, her Chinese passport, three pocket notebooks and sales book was found on Ahiangbe whilst GH9,100.00 was retrieved from Yeboah.
DSP Tenge said investigations were still on-going.
