Tema, Aug. 1, GNA - Five young men who allegedly conspired to steal from a house in Ashaiman and fought among themselves over the booty, have been arrested by the police.

A statement issued by the Tema Regional Police Public Affairs Unit and signed by its head, Chief Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, said on the night of July 28, the five began a pick-pocketing expedition, which led them to a house at Asensu Bar area in Ashaiman.

According to Chief Inspector Nketia-Yeboah, they broke into a room and stole a Nokia 3350 mobile phone valued at 400,000 cedis; Siemens C25 phone valued 700,000 cedis and cash 500,000 cedis.

This, the Head of the Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, said, degenerated into a fight. He said later that dawn while on board a taxicab, Kwashie saw the four others; alight and engaged them in another fight inflicting severe wounds on one another.

Chief Inspector Nketia-Yeboah said the victim of the theft called his mobile phone while the five were engaged in the fight and the taxi driver incidentally picked the call.

He said acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Kwashie and his friend one Shaibu Awudu who was massaging him with hot water. The Regional Police Public Affairs Head stated that while on a drinking spree to jubilate over the arrest of Kwashie, police arrested the four others.
