Fleeing taxi crashes, killing two

Ho, Sept. 22, GNA - An Opel Astra Taxi cab, travelling from Agortime-Kpetoe toward Ho and suspected to be fleeing from the police crashed into another cab at the outskirts of Ho, killing two passengers instantly.

Five others in the taxi, which police found out to be carrying 11 pieces of wax prints hidden in the vehicle's engine compartment, sustained various degrees of injury and were on admission at the Volta Regional Hospital, the head of the Volta Region MTTU, ASP Simpson Abotsi, told the Ghana News Agency at Ho on Thursday.

He said the driver of the suspected taxicab, Kwadzo Badu, ignored signals to stop when he got to a police barrier at mile 48 on the Kpetoe-Ho trunk road and sped towards Ho but ran into a Hyundai Excel taxicab, which was making a U-Turn in front of the Ho Polyclinic. Mr Abotsi named the dead as Bless Alor, aged two and Rose Dagba, 45. The injured were Rose Vorsah, 48, Rose Ofori, 27, Ben Butu 32 and Victoria Agbolosu 22.
