Former accountant granted bail

A former accountant of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Health Directorate, Patrick Aiduenu, 44, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢ 50,000.00 with three sureties by the Tarkwa Circuit Court.

He has been accused of allegedly forging the signatures of two persons and stealing GH¢ 46,680.00 belonging to the Ghana Health Service.

The accused, who pleaded not guilty to forgery and stealing would re-appear on April 21.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante, that the complainants were Dr. Jack Galley, the former Municipal Director of Health Service Tarkwa and Mr. Ebenezer Tetteh, the acting Municipal Director of the Ghana Health Service.

He said from July to December, last year, the accused forged the signatures of the two complainants on Ghana Commercial Bank cheques and managed to cash various sums of money to the tune of GH¢ 46,680.00, being the savings of the Tarkwa Office of the Ghana Health Service.

According to the Prosecutor, on March 18, the theft was detected and a report was made to the Police by authorities of the health directorate, which led to the arrest of the accused.
