Breman Asikuma, July 6, GNA - Four accused persons have been placed in prison custody and a bench warrant issued for the arrest of two others by the Breman Asikuma Magistrate Court for allegedly failing to attend communal labour and refusing to honour an invitation from the Chief and elders of Breman Bedum.

Their pleas were not taken.

Police Chief Inspector David Nkrumah Danso told the court presided over by Mr Akwesi Asiedu that the Chief of Bedum, Nana Kweku Essoun II and his elders have arranged weekly communal labour on Tuesdays to improve sanitation in the community.

He said on April 27 this year, six people, Atta Panyin, Atta Kakra, Abbam, Kwasi Awuah, Yaw Baah and Owusuma failed to attend the communal labour.

They were issued with summons to appear before the Chief and his elders to pay 10,000 cedis each for defaulting but they refused to respond to the call.

Inspector Danso said a report was made to the police and criminal summons were issued to them to appear before court on June 18, 2004 but two of them, Yaw Baah and Owusuma absconded.
