Tema, Jan. 04, GNA -- Four people who broke into a house at Zenu, near Ashaiman and stole personal effects valued at 16.6 million cedis have been remanded by the Tema circuit court 'B'.

Salifu Yakubu, a labourer, Eric (at large), Isaac Sunday, driver's mate and Robert Kwawukumey, apprentice, pleaded not guilty to five counts of unlawful entry, conspiracy and stealing and will reappear on January 13. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court that on December 18, 2004 Robert conspired with the other accused persons and broke into the complainant's room at night.

They stole Kente cloths, jewellery, men's clothes, wax prints, soap, bed spread, wall clock and five million cedis cash.

Chief Inspector Nutakor said the theft was reported to the Ashaiman police, who managed to arrest four of the accused persons while Eric escaped.

During investigations, Salifu led police to retrieve 15 half pieces of wax prints and three Kente clothes.
