Breman Asikuma (C/R), Dec. 26, GNA - A 38-year-old Druggist, Daniel Ampah has appeared before the Breman Asikuma Magistrate's Court charged with defrauding a Businesswoman of 40 million cedis. Ampah, from Breman Kuntanase in Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District, pleaded not guilt to a charge of defrauding by false pretences.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Gershon Kwame Awuyeh told the Court presided over by Mr Akwasi Asmah Asiedu that in October 2003, Ampah approached Madam Elizabeth Gyan from Odoben, a few metres from Kuntanase, and collected 10 million cedis to clear some goods including bicycles and containers from the Tema Harbour.

The Prosecutor said Ampah returned a week later to demand extra 30 million cedis from the woman. He said Madam Gyan travelled outside the country and when she returned she discovered that Ampah did not supply the goods; neither did he pay back the money. Madam Gyan reported the matter to the Police on December 6, 2006 and Ampah was arrested.
