GN Bank suspends operations after robbery attack

One person has been killed at Wuriyanga in the Garu-Tempane District of the Upper East Region during a broad daylight armed robbery that took place at GN Bank in the area.

The robbers made away with an undisclosed amount of money at about 11:40 AM when the incident took place.

The Bawku Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Yao Tetegah confirmed the incident to XYZ News but not on record.

He described it as a chain of robbery attacks that has hit the area this week and explained that similar attacks occurred at Badoo where another person was gunned down, with a similar situation at Basuende, within this week.

The commander who did not give details of how the attacks took place added that a District Security Council (DISEC) meeting was held over the attacks, and the police have also intensified a manhunt for the unscrupulous persons.

Meanwhile, XYZ News has gathered that the deceased in the bank robbery was speaking on his mobile phone while walking along the road leading to his death.

The management of GN Bank has since declined to comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, a similar attack took place at Basuende when a mobile money merchant was robbed at gunpoint and his money taken away.
