The beleaguered director of the Ghana School of Law on Wednesday told the committee investigating allegations of impropriety against him that he is the best director the law school has ever had since its inception in 1958.

Kwaku Ansah Asare says he has made enemies for himself because he is a disciplinarian. Mr. Ansah Asare was giving evidence before the committee at its hearing on Wednesday.

Led in evidence by his counsel, Wilson Tamakloe, Kwaku Ansah Asare told the fact finding committee that as director he had worked hard to put the name of the Ghana School of law on international pedestal?a feat his predecessors could not attain.

He said he had worked had to transform the school and was thus surprised that people from the law school would want to discredit him.

Mr Ansah Asare alleged that he is been accused of victimizing staff because he was strict and would insist the right things are done.

He told the committee that he was one director that had persistently heeded the staff?s request to increase salaries and requests brought before him.

The Law School boss said the welfare of the staff of the law school was always paramount to him and was therefore dumbfounded that some would be accusing him of victimization and harassment.

Mr. Ansah who was responding to some allegations made against him told the fact finding committee that he was sure the Attorney-General Ayikwei Otoo had set the committee to humiliate him.

He said if the attorney general wanted him out of the law school, he could have chosen what he describes as a more refined way of doing so rather than subjecting him to public ridicule.

He also discounted allegations that he ordered the promotion of the editor of the Statesman after he failed two papers.

Mr. Ansah Asare said Gabby Okyere Darko duly passed the papers on merit after petitioning and winning against one and rewriting the other. Hearing continues on Thursday.
